This is obviously not me. The last time I ran was before Ipod was invented. Actually may have been before sand was invented.Putting one foot in front of the other at speed is a joy I've denied myself for too long. Well, at speed may be a stretch. Hell, one foot in front of the other is a stretch.
So tell about your half marathon. It sounds like you haven't been running. What inspired you to take it up?
ReplyDeleteThe half marathon is a committment to get healthy and to start moving. Also it's a show of solidarity with one of my tend friends (may I borrow your phrase?) who has been battling clinical depression for awhile.
ReplyDeleteSo you're starting from no exercise (it sounds that way) to 13.1 miles running? My god. When IS the event? You are welcome to use 'tend friends. I like it and I'm glad you did, too.
ReplyDeleteThe event is somewhere in the vague and hazy uncertainty that is my future. But I'm shooting for the Rock and Roll Half Marathon in Sep 2011. Its time to get moving again.
ReplyDeleteThat is remarkable, Tag! I'm signed up for the Rock N Roll Marathon (walking, not running) this December 6th. It will be my first. I've walked miles and miles every day for years. There's a reason I am such a walking addict that I will blog about sometime. I have a pretty amazing story about my relationship with fitness. I hope you make your half marathon! You can do it. Start training now.
ReplyDeleteOne foot in front of the other, Limes. Thanks for cheer leading. Way cool that you are going to walk it. If I can run just a couple of miles in 2 years that will be great progress.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm a natural cheerleader - probably a good member to have on anyone's team. But I particularly love stories in which someone achieves something they had to strive for. I am a story like that.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the running. Loved your for/against list at my place!
