Hanging out down on the Strand at 2nd street, Hermosa Beach. The girls in their summer clothes pass me by.
On the Jersey shore fine looking girls walking down the boardwalk in their summer clothes pass me by.
Laying out on the sand at Cannes, with a jug of wine, a loaf of fresh baked bread The girls in their summer clothes pass me by.
On the beach at Waikiki in the shadow of Diamond Head the wahines in their year round clothes pass me by

Ha! When I showed the Badger the cover of my newly arrived AARP magazine with The Boss on the cover, I thought he was going to spurt coffee out of his nose.
ReplyDeleteThe man is as cool as ever. There's nothing wrong with 60 if you've still got it.
He was great at the Super Bowl. Some critics bitched he was too much a showman. They wanted the sensitive Dylanesque poet. But the Boss has always had his fun side. WMMS here in Cleveland used to play a live version of "Growing Up", where Bruce talks about getting sent to the principal in school, and about walking up a mountain to meet God, and it's hilarious!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy you liked my tribute.A bit late, but what the heck. ts the thought that counts.
ReplyDeleteLimesNow Check out Gabriel's Great sunset photos at Huntington Beach His work is up near the top of the people I like sidebar.
ReplyDeleteWill do! It'll make me homesick, I am sure. Right now I'm in my end-of-Saturday slam and trying to organize everything so I can get out of here early. But I promise to check them out.
ReplyDeleteKirk, Thanks For reminding me of that one. Growing up was one of my favorites 30 some years ago. I loved Greetings From Asbury Park. Played it over and over.
ReplyDeleteTunnel of Love! Tag, those photos are glorious. Sigh. It's not the desert, but they're beautiful. I have some really well done body art (I accept that not everyone likes that, or approves, but I have it nonetheless and it's the good goods). Some glorifies the ocean and some glorifies the desert. These places MEAN something to me.
ReplyDeleteThat comes through in your writings about the desert. Who cares who approves wasn't that what the sixties were about doing your own thing. I like the freedom the kids of today have towards body art. I don't like all of it but some of it is really good. As long as you like and are happy.
ReplyDeleteYes, of course! I'm not apologizing, you understand. Just saying, "Look, I know this is not for everybody." I can write equally as compelling about the ocean life (and I have, and I will. By the way, did you get my e-mail about the ocean life?). It's just that that is farther back in time. The desert is more recent, and in fact, is right NOW. I'm IN the desert.
ReplyDeleteHappy? Oh, I don't know. I wonder if I'd recognize it if I were in it up to my neck. Not sure.
I change my mind far too much ever to get a tattoo.
ReplyDeleteGreetings From Asbury Park also has the original "Blinded by the Light." Much superior to the better known version by Manfred Mann.
Absolutely right Kirk, Manfed Mann trashed a very good song. I've been the same way about body art. Tattoos are much too permanent for someone as indecisve as I am but I enjoy others who display their artwork this way.
ReplyDeleteOh, I have no problem with anyone else wearing a tattoo. Although I wish it would advance as an art form. Man, the flaming skull tattoos have been around since I was a kid. That's a longer run than SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE.
ReplyDeleteAnd even Hollywood Squares.
