Blue Monday

In my head Van Morrison's Blue Money
Out my door it sounds like a jackhammer is working a couple of blocks away.
Sitting in a hospital bed, remembered to bring laptop this time.
I expect I will be here in Sentara Norfolk General for a few more days.
Docs say Kidney infection. Last year that led to renal failure twice.
I am under observation which means nurses
wake me up very couple of hours to check my vital signs and take blood.
I'm in a particular kind of mood this morning. 18 months ago
I was fit and strong and in a short time cancer knocks me for a loop.
The point of course is to move on, but I pped myself this morning.
That does things to the space inside my head I'm currently not using.
I think a good three day drunk with high quality tequila is in order
Unfortnately not avaialble on the menu. My IV beeps at me constantly to remind me that a bended arm is not a good thing.
Of course this shall pass. I have Monty Python and the Holy Grail to play after morning rounds "run away" "run away" I think some spiteful taunting french are necessary. I also brought Buckaroo Banzai as back up.
Breakfast comes finally.

  1. i was wondering...i'm very sorry to hear this. if you like buckaroo bonzai (one of my faves), might i suggest airplane!, or major league? if you can laugh, you have some perspective, and that's healing.

  2. Oh, Tag, I was much afraid of something like this when you got so quiet on your blog. I'm happy you were able to post today, though. Do you still have my e-mail address? Drop me a line and I'll cheerlead for you - I'm a pretty good person to have on the team. Rest, refrain from beating yourself up for the things you can't control, and keep dreaming of that "carrot" - the tequila. I know some varieties to recommend that will cure what ails you. All the best!

  3. Thank you both for your care and concern. I'll be back to regular blogging soon. I wasn't serious about the the tequila. As nice as it sounds it about the worst thing I could do to myself right now. Standing I love both those movies, they're on my list. Thanks.

  4. I hope you feel better, Tag.

I think Life of Brian is the best of the Python films. Blessed be the cheesemakers for they shall inherit the Earth. And remember that song at the end.

  5. Tag, I'm the last person who needs to tuck into that tequila. I was just showing off my knowledge of it and experience with it (which are both vast). However, just because I KNOW it doesn't mean I should hang out with it.

  6. I can't argue the meirits of either. The best MP movie is the one I watched last. And now for something completely different....Limes it's also my past intimacy with this beautiful golden liquid that keeps me away. Thank you both once again.

  7. Understood! I, too, have tried to make new friends, because that particular one didn't really treat me as a valued friend. We keep our distance now, for the betterment of us both.
