I'm up on the fourth floor looking down on the EVMS campus; lots of students arriving now. Their bustling from cars to classes remind me of my time in college a while ago. I wish I could join these young and not so young eager to learn. Well possibly there will be some money available from the rehabilition programs the Democrats have implemented.Thursday is the Charter for Compassion unveiling, A call for people of all faiths to reach out an open hand in peace. I'm seeing omens of great changes pending world wide, beneficial changes. Perhaps an old sailor's sea dreams but I can hope.
Resident urulogists have been in to talk this morning. Looks pretty sure I will be going home today on antibiotics. I hear the nurses discussing my doctor's orders. The foley catheter will be taken out soon.
In my ear the sweet sound of a lullabye, heralding the arrival of a new child to a hopefully loving family. This hospital will do this for each newborn, a peaceful welcome. I tear up everytime it plays. That wraps up today's weather and news from Norfolk General Hospital. Hope to come back a bit later with an NBA wrap up for the second week of the season, but I am woefully ignorant of basketball news. Well a laptop, ESPN, and NBA.com should put back in the hoop.
This week in the NBA
All right! Starting in the Atlantic Division Boston Retain the no1 spot in the division in the ESPN power rankings despite their loss to the impressive Phoenix Suns. The rest of the division seem to be heading in a downward spiral.
In the Central Division The favorite Cleveland Cavaliers continue to struggle dropping to 9 in the power rankings. It appears no wants wants the division this early in the season. Currently Chicago holds the lead, but for how long?
Moving down to the Southeast division Orlando continues to roll but with a loss to OKC Thunder on the road the Magic took a step backward in the power rankings dropping to 3 behind the Celtics and the Lakers. Also allowing the Heat and the Hawks to jump them in the standings.
In the Western Conference the surprising Suns hold the lead by a half game over the Lakers and have jumped from 10 to 4 in the power rankings after handing the Celtics their first loss. This might get real interesting down the road especially as the Suns travel to Staples Center on Thursday in a division showdown against the Lakers
Despite losing their last two, The Nuggets are still atop the Northwest division as they head to Chicago tonight. 1 game back the Portland Trailblazers have won two and look to be putting some pressure on the Nuggets.Houston and Dallas share the lead in the Southwest Division. The Mavs can't seem to find any consistency and the Rockets just plug along without Yao and Tracy McGrady.
Trade rumors have Allen Iversen going to Cleveland, we'll see.
You sound strong and filled with hope today ~ good omens for a man about to go home. I love that the hospital announces the arrival of new human beings with a lullaby. A baby deserves to be welcomed! All the best, Tag. I'm glad you're headed back where you belong. And even with a laptop, ESPN and NBA, I'd still be basketball ignorant.
ReplyDeleteFeeling back back to my self with a renewed confidence and purpose. Another Baby arrived just now. For some reason men love games involving putting balls into open places. Its Freudian.
ReplyDeleteYes, balls or bicycles, it seems, in my experience. It is very good to read your tone so upbeat.
ReplyDeletemy, you sound better today.
ReplyDeletethe lullaby announcing a new life is just marvelous! i've attended several births, know just how heart-opening it is. i am in awe of your basketball, uh, committment. did you once play?
Sure, Jr High and High school for a while. Too short, too slow to do any more than take up a place on the bench. But I love the game.
ReplyDeleteSo far we've had 6 babies born today, 1 set of twins. Makes me smile and cry at the same time.
Thank you for becoming part of our family.
ah, smiling and crying at the same time-there goes that heart again!
ReplyDeletefunny thing about families, they show up in the damnedest places! you're welcome.
