Dads and Daughters.

"Dude, I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight" I wonder if I was that enthusiastic at age almost 19? Almost certainly not. Cameryn my youngest, tallest daughter bounces through out the house telling me the news at least 3 times. She calls all of her friends and makes sure that they know Butch Walker is going to be at the NORVA in March. "You're not going to sleep tonight because he's going to be here in March" I ask in my Dad like way. Clearly it's not a question worth thinking about because she doesn't. "Dad, DADdadaddy,If he signs a body part can I have it tattooed where he signs, I look over the top of my middle age specs and say professorially "You do know that in 70 years when some funeral director rolls your corpse over he will say; 'Who the fuck is Butch Walker?'". She  replies,"That will be so COOL"

  1. he's off my radar too, so i listened. this may get me drummed out of the geezer corps, but it's not too bad.
and i'd bet you were at least that enthusiastic, if not more so. she didn't get it by accident, ya know!

  2. I've heard WAY worse. Dad-like is good, professorial is all right. But don't slide into old-fart-ism, Tag. YOU may not recall that you were that enthusiastic, but I KNOW you were. By the way, I am the mom who took 6 preteen girls to the 'N Sync concert and sat through it for several hours, including all 5 artists/groups who preceded the guys on stage. Most of the other girls missed school the next day. My kid and I had a deal. I'd take everyone to the concert, but she HAD to go to school the day after. I did. She did. She had no voice, after screaming the night away. Bye, bye, bye! When home dudes slid down the ropes from the ceiling to the floor, my heart kind of skipped a beat, too! No Strings Attached.

  3. Cameryn has put him on my radar along with many others. Butch has actually been the wall paper on our desk top pc for about 4 years. None of my kids got into the boy band, Brittany, Spice girls stuff. Just grundge and post grundge. I remember my step dad telling me to turn off the jungle music while I was listening to Neil Diamond. A year later to he's going to the Greek Theatre to hear Neil in concert. Funny though that his favorite band was the Beach Boys.

  4. Standing I loved the music but hated the crowds. Give me a bar band in some honky tonk with a couple of long necks and a few rednecks and I'm in my element.

  5. My ocd kicked in and I had to add another video. Plus some research on wikipedia. Butch Walker has a long and varied resume with songs written and produced for many other bands.

  6. I like Butch. The band is good. Like Leslie, I took my daughter to rock concerts, but ALWAYS took ear plugs. I'm with Tag, the hugeness of the concerts really distorts their music and the small venue is better.

  7. yeah, i don't do well in crowds either. i'm too damn short to see over everyone! i much prefer smaller venues, more up close and personal.
