maybe the essence of soul.
Few do it as well as Mr T. Here's Stevie Wonder's Creepin'
Don't mess With Mr T
maybe my favorite.
Night Breeze
A bit of a departure. Jean Carne featured on vocals
with the smooth sax solos of Stanley Turrentine
A very mellow song
Finally a nice number written by Milton Nascimento
Stanley bounces a bit with this one.
A lot of fun.
I started listening to Stanford's FM Station on those quiet nights
on the weather night watch in Mountain View, CA. They played a nice mix with good commentary
about the artists and their music. Through the 80's and into the late 90's jazz became my
listening choice wherever I was.
Stanley is something, and I wonder if anything scorches the soul more than the sound of a saxophone? I've spent a lot of time in Mountain View, Tag. The union was headquartered in San Jose, so I was up in the vicinity a lot for many years.
ReplyDeleteWell, Howdy neighbor! My brother and sister-in law live and work in San Jose. I was there in the early 80's. San Jose and MV were still small and sleepy, but not for much longer. Glad you enjoyed the Mr T selection.
ReplyDeleteSo cool I almost want to go out for spicy food. I love a saxophone. Hardly worth reiterating that it's a sexaphone. Are you a Grover Washington Jr. fan at all?
ReplyDeleteI like Grover Washington's mix of funk/jazz but he can get soulful with the best also. I just love the Sax. So many great artists.
