Cover Friday - To Love somebody

. This cover of the Bee Gees "To Love Somebody" is a nice collaboration between Damien Rice and Ray Lamontagne. originally written for Otis Redding it has been covered many times. I like this version.

here's the Brother Gibb with a nice but over orchestrated original.

  1. Despite over-orchestration, I liked the BeeGees nearly 10 years pre-disco. I had an album in the late 60s that gave up songs I still enjoy, this being one of them. Thanks - again - Mike. You so often play my song.

  2. Sorry - forgot to say - can you imagine the spin Otis would have put on it? And the Bee Gees version was only shortly after Otis died in 1968 - there's that year again.

  3. I didn't mean to take anything away from the Bee Gees. Their success is not to be denied though a bit of puzzlement creeps in especially during the disco years. They gave fans what they wanted I guess. A big "What if" on Otis doing this song. i think it would have been marvelous with a simple acoustic arrangement.
